"For a long time, our son struggled with mental health experiencing severe social anxieties and lack of self-belief with a real concern over future goals and progression. 12 months ago, our son began a placement with the team at Thurmaston. The have a great team of mentors over there, Spencer, Reece and Dean. They each have their own mentoring methods and as a collective are a great team and really do care about the children’s development and they sincerely wish them the best. 12 months on it is evidently clear that our son has dramatically improved in terms of mental health, physical health. He even makes healthier eating choices and now undertakes physical training daily off his own back when in his spare time. The team at Thurmaston have dragged our son out of a dark place and showed him there is a light at the end of every tunnel. They are very flexible in terms of working around the parents as and when required. Communication is fantastic with updates and advice etc… We recommend their services to any parents that are worried their child is struggling in any capacity that may be. We cannot thank them all enough and certainly cannot praise them highly enough. The results speak for themselves. You have helped our son turn his life around and have really given him the confidence and belief that anything is possible with hard work and determination. On top of all that, he now has a trial to potentially join the army training at Harrogate. All this in just 12 months WOW!! Again, A MASSIVE THANKYOU to the whole team. If enough youngsters were to get involved and attend their sessions, we really believe that they could have a huge positive impact on not only individuals but the young local community moving forward."

"I would like to take this opportunity to say how wonderful Generation Youth have been. Since being with them my son has made great changes. My son started there with the intention of joining the Army. Generation Youth have gone above and beyond for him and bought in Mini warriors to work with my son. This has helped him achieve his goal, and now they are helping him get prepared for his life, come September when he leaves to join.  Without Generation Youth, I do not think it would have been possible. “My son has attended Generation Youth less than 6 months, but the difference in his personality is overwhelming. His confidence has increased, understanding of himself has greatly improved, more talkative at home, general topics and looking forward to future events, and is excited at trying new things in his life. "My son has been attending Generation Youth for a couple of months now and highly recommend what Spencer and his team do. The help and support they have given my son has made such a difference to him in such a positive way. He has gone from constantly being let down and turned away from mainstream education to having a sense of pride and belonging, which has impacted his everyday life. He is learning valuable lessons that are simply not taught in mainstream school, as-well as coping with the emotional behaviours and feelings that were turned into negativity for so long during his school years. "Generation Youth has hugely helped our child, Where we had silence for so long, he now smiles, asks questions and laugh He has got in the car ( not been in the car for two years prior), has gone to the shop ( not done in nearly 5 years ), managed to kick a football outdoors, away from home not done in nearly 5 years ), has asked to go to the Dentist (last visit to the Dentist was nearly 5 years ago ) and comes down to watch football on tv as a family ( not been able to do this since he was about 10 yrs of age). Without Generation Youth he would not be able to do any of these things. "I can't begin to say how much generation youth has enabled me to manage through such a traumatic time. Throughout my time so far with generation youth it’s allowed me to start building and holding positive relationships which has always been a struggle for me. I’m also working on finding positive strategies to help with my day-to-day life and with accessing public areas. I initially stared work with spencer on this topic by managing to step outside the house which turned into going round block. He then provided me with enough skills to accesses the local shop. I've also been working on enterprise projects. In doing these enterprise projects it’s given me an insight into managing money and marketing. I started learning about budgeting, which gave me an insight into how much things cost to make for the first time in forever I've started to feel like I actually belong somewhere with people who understand. I truly don't know what i would have done without there help they have definitely saved me more than once”

I would just like to let you know that Generation Youths work is having a huge positive impact on my so. My son is responding so well, I can see his confidence growing and his increasing motivation to engage with tuition. Due to this support my son is actually leaving the home, socialising and being active.

have found all at Generation Youth to have played a vital role in supporting my son following his GCSEs at mainstream school, and without them my son’s success would have been very different. Kids with ADHD / ASD are not supported at mainstream school and leave education feeling very let down, alone and alienated with no confidence or prospects because of the failures of mainstream education to recognise and support these young people. Places like Generation Youth are vital to help rebuild these issues facing post 16 students and without it my son would have been another statistic for a broken education system. In the years he has been at Generation Youth, he has been respected, understood, not labelled as simply naughty or stupid and most importantly he has been shown belief and given chances that he had never been given before attending. This in turn has led to him developing confidence, coping mechanisms, and trust. Opportunities for post 16 education is a daunting prospect for young people with mental health and emotional / behavioural difficulties that have already been let down and failed by mainstream education, so to limit the specialist educational settings that are equipped to help and support these students is criminal. Spencer and his team have given my son and their other students a chance at success, and this should be made more readily available, not taken away. They have helped with work skills, life skills, confidence, English, activities, and job prospects, but most importantly they offer these kids hope, trust and respect with a sense of belonging which is a very specialist skill that has been implemented by each and every one of Generation Youth staff. I could not be more grateful for this!
